FOOD DRIVE!
The National Association of Letter Carriers is sponsoring their annual food drive on Saturday May 10, 2008. Please leave all non-perishable donations by your mailbox for pick up by your letter carrier. For the past 4 years the City of Quincy has provided a building to sort and package food for the pantries. This year volunteers are needed from 3:30 PM until 7:00 PM at the Quincy Park and Recreation Department located at 1 Merrymount Parkway, (next to Adam’s Field), to sort and box food. Drivers are also needed to pick up and transport food from the Quincy Center, Wollaston and North Quincy Post Office to the Recreation Department for sorting. This is a great opportunity to help your community and for children, of all ages, to accumulate volunteer hours for school or other activities.

Fundraiser Family Fair
Saturday May 3rd, 1-3 PM
Beechwood Knoll Elementary School Gym
Two student groups, Students for Social Justice and Eco-Serve, have chosen to go beyond the Quincy area in assisting others. Eight churches in Managua, Nicaragua are attempting to start neighborhood-wide recycling programs, providing not only jobs for the unemployed, but raising environmental awareness and physical clean up of empty lots in the city. Students are hoping to raise money to provide start-up funds for this project – as the project becomes financially stable, a certain percentage of their profits will fund similar projects in the area.
The primary fundraiser will be a Family Fair, to be held at the Beechwood Knoll Elementary School gym on Saturday, May 3rd from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. As the enclosed flyer states, there will be many activities for children (both fun and educational), and for adults, there will be an art fair and a silent auction of donated community services.
