Prism Consulting, Inc.

Wendy Simmons, President and Owner of Prism Consulting, founded her company in 1998. Prism Consulting located at 440B East Squantum Street develops and implements energy conservation programs for utility companies. They perform energy audits and install energy efficient lighting to reduce emissions and lower energy costs for their clients. The company has fourteen employees; eight who work in the office while the others are out in the field visiting job sites.

For a company that has almost half of its employees and much of its business out on the road and in the field, it is crucial to have all of its motor vehicles functioning properly. However, within the past year, three of the company’s vehicles needed to be replaced. This is a major financial burden on any company, especially a small business. Since Wendy was a member of the Quincy 2000 Collaborative, she turned to the organization for help. Quincy 2000, loaned her $50,000 to replace the aging vehicles. With the funds she was able to purchase a new van and two cars as well as some other necessary equipment.

“It is so hard to succeed and flourish as a small business,” says Wendy, “All help is very much appreciated.” The networking opportunities that Q2000 provides are extremely helpful to Prism Consulting. Even small benefits, such as the use of the conference room at Q2000, proved to be very helpful to Wendy.
